Optelian today unveiled its Intuitive Packet Optical Networking solution to address the exploding demand for packet-based service delivery. By virtualizing the underpinning technology and complexity of Layer 0, 1 and 2 infrastructure, Intuitive Packet Optical Networking enables service providers to deploy Ethernet and wavelength services more quickly, accelerating their time to revenue.
“Intuitive Packet Optical Networking combines the advantages of packet networking with WDM, OTN, ROADM and TDM transport, to enable Service-Driven Networking,” said Optelian CEO David Weymouth. “We are changing the game by simplifying provisioning and management of services
across these technologies. You provision the network by simply defining services. No Ph.D. required!”

This evolution of Optelian’s portfolio includes enhanced Ethernet service delivery with intuitive SDN-oriented service-centric management. Leveraging MPLS-TP technology, Optelian’s PKX-1640 Packet Networking Card is a 20-port 200 Gb/s state-of-the-art Carrier Ethernet switch. It delivers Ethernet service aggregation and multiplexing, extensive OAM, rapid protection switching and MEF-standardized CE 2.0 services. This builds on Optelian’s widely deployed solutions, such as the MPX-9110 Flexible 100G Platform, OMS-7190 and OMS-2190 platforms.

Optelian is featuring Intuitive Packet Optical Networking and showcasing the PKX-1640 this week at CommunicAsia, Asia’s largest Information Communications and Technology (ICT) event.
