Micron pixel smartphone image sensor for selfie cameras
OmniVision Technologies has announced in advance of CES the OV32B image sensor, featuring a 0.7 micron pixel size to provide 32 megapixel (MP) resolution in a 1/3” optical format. This enables smartphone designers to offer the highest possible front-facing, selfie camera resolution in the limited space available.
Custom high-precision laser optics production
LASER COMPONENTS has announced that it manufactures laser optics that are optimally adapted to meet the customer’s requirements. This not only applies to series production but to the individual lenses and mirrors produced in house as well. From substrate production and coatings to a thorough outgoing goods inspection, all operating steps are carried out in house.
Integrated lighting solutions to improve experience
Signify and Honeywell have announced a strategic alliance to deploy integrated, smart lighting solutions for commercial buildings. Together, the companies aim to improve the occupant experience – focusing on productivity and wellbeing – and to reduce energy consumption.
Compact and efficient control units for LED spot lamps
DELO has launched two new devices for controlling and powering LED spot lamps. The DELOLUX pilot S4i and S4T models allow the use of more powerful lamp heads in an extremely compact design.
Prisms for cryogenic measurements in spectrograph
Optical Surfaces has received an order to supply the University of Oxford with three speciality glass prisms for cryogenic measurements for a study that will enable defining key components in the HARMONI spectrometer being developed for ESO’s Extremely Large Telescope (ELT).
Advanced USB camera control software released
Key Digital has released a new version of the free advanced USB camera control software, KD-CAM, specifically engineered for use with KD-CAMUSB. The KD-CAM application excels as a user-friendly camera control and preview, and may be used on its own or while concurrently running video editing or conferencing software.
Optically compensated zoom lens for remote environments
For remote and hazardous environments where simple optical design offers significant benefits - Resolve Optics has developed a new optically compensated zoom lens design that vastly reduces the moving parts to just a single push pull movement.
Signify provides the benefits of natural light indoors
Signify has realised its first NatureConnect installation in the Netherlands, a natural light indoors innovation inspired by nature to boost employee wellbeing and productivity. At Van Rennes Elektro & Installatietechniek, they realised the possibilities of NatureConnect and its contribution to a more productive and natural office environment.
Gran Canaria installs Interact City on main highway
Signify is transforming Gran Canaria’s most important highway, known as GC-1, into a smart highway with Interact City. The Cabildo (council) of Gran Canaria has upgraded the lighting system to LEDs that provide a 2700K colour temperature. This supports its main objective of preserving the outstanding conditions for viewing the night sky as required by the Canarian Observatories.
UV-C LEDs: using light to fight viruses
The longer the coronavirus pandemic lasts, the more important it is to stay safe and healthy in everyday life. Hygiene measures, such as wearing a facemask or socially distancing, help safeguard against the spread of germs. But light in the right wavelength also makes an enormous contribution to fighting viruses. UV-C LED light can eliminate 99.9% of viruses and bacteria on surfaces, in the air and in drinking water.
