Wire-to-board disconnectable connectors, offering a small and reliable contact construction for high density LED light applications, have been released by JST. The LEN series of side entry (right angle) connectors, which are suitable for LED applications, provide insertion guides for easy and secure insertion of the mating LEN housings.

A hinge lock secures the socket to the header while a friction lock provides an audible click when mating, preventing accidental disconnection. With a mated height of only 3.0mm, the connectors are designed so not to interfere with the luminescence angle of the PCB LED dies.

The LEN Series of connectors, which have a crimp style, are available in two and three circuits with a 3.0A (AC/DC) rating using a 22AWG wire at 300V (AC/DC). Operating from -55 to +105°Cthe connectors feature fully shrouded headers molded of RoHS compliant, Halogen free, 94V-0 9T Nylon (SMT headers) resin.

Designed to accommodate a wire range of 22-24AWG, the LEN series of connectors are tin-plated with a copper alloy base material. The box construction ensures stable contact performance, redundant contact points, positive electrical contact and low contact resistance. While contacts offered on standard size reels for semi-automatic or fully automatic application tooling, SMT headers are provided on embossed tape for automatic insertion equipment.
