Featuring a 120mm aperture for handling large beams and laser diode bars, the 1000W-BB-120 thermal sensor has been released by Ophir Photonics. The water-cooled thermopile sensor, which measures power of 1-1000W and energy of 2-600J, features broadband absorbers that can measure a spectral range from 190nm to 20μm.

At full power, the sensor provides a damage threshold of 6kW/cm² and a 6s response time which Ophir claims is faster than competitors. The sensor also features a smart connector interface, allowing it to operate with the company's StarLite, Nova II, and Vega smart displays, and Juno PC interface. When plugged into one of the Ophir's laser measurement heads, the display is automatically configured and calibrated.

"The 1000W-BB-120 features a very large 120mm aperture, twice the size of other Ophir laser sensors," said Ephraim Greenfield, CTO, Ophir Photonics.

"This is required for applications using large diameter lasers or widely diverging sources at medium powers. The 1000W-BB-120 provides accurate measurements, fast response times, and a damage resistant broadband coating," adds Greenfield.
