Energy saving LED for commerce and industry
Manufactured by Ecolighting in the UK, the Sapphire LED features high output chip-on-board LEDs and OSRAM driver encased in a linear body with a polycarbonate diffuser, all rated IP54. With lamp life of 50,000 hours, the Sapphire comes with a five year warranty.
The Lutron light experience is more than just lighting
Lights, mainly used for making a room brighter when it is dark. That’s what I had always thought anyways, until I visited the Lutron light experience in London. Lutron a company who works in the lighting control industry, made it clear almost immediately it’s not just about light it’s more about the whole experience.
Choosing the best designed LEDs for clients
When Light Emitting Diodes, or LEDs, became the main form of lighting, many architects and interior designers thought that the future of lighting was not just bright, it was infinitely variable. So why does it so often happen that the LED lighting they choose for their clients is a disappointment?
Block camera features 30x zoom and global shutter imaging
Tamron has launched its very first global shutter block camera. The MP2030M-GS is equipped with Sony’s IMX265, an industrial grade 1/1.8” Global Shutter CMOS sensor. This camera is combined with a built-in high-power 30x zoom lens and is suitable for both wide angle and telephoto pictures. In addition, the advanced feature set makes the new Tamron block camera a perfect 24/7 candidate for both day and night conditions in security...
Astronomical optics at the largest telescope in Eurasia
Rostec has completed the installation of a mirror at the Large Altazimuth Telescope (BTA) in the Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SAO RAS) in Karachay-Cherkessia. The telescope with updated astronomical optics, which increase the range of observations 1.5 times, will begin working this fall. The key element of BTA installed by Rostec experts is a mirror with a diameter of 6m.
Hybrid gym makes savings with energy efficient LED lighting
The LED lighting brand, Goodlight, has announced that CrossFit Perpetua, a dedicated hybrid gym is set to make up to 70% energy savings following the replacement of its old fluorescent lighting, with long life, energy efficient G5 LED Battens from the Goodlight range. Return on investment is expected within 18 months.
LED grow light chosen for indoor lettuce greenhouse project
Developer of LED technologies and horticultural grow lighting, Plessey, has announced that B4Hydrogrow, a new venture from Dutch lettuce grower B-Four Agro, will install Plessey’s new Hyperion 1750 micromole/s LED top-lights in its first greenhouse measuring 29,000m².
On-chip optical filter processes wide range of wavelengths
MIT researchers have designed an optical filter on a chip that can process optical signals from across an extremely wide spectrum of light at once, something never before available to integrated optics systems that process data using light. The technology may offer greater precision and flexibility for designing optical communication and sensor systems, studying photons and other particles through ultrafast techniques, and in other applications.
wysiwyg Release 41 adds exciting features, improves workflow
CAST Software has announced the release 41 of wysiwyg lighting design and previsualisation software. The new version brings a broad range of new features and functionality that they hope will reinforce wysiwyg’s position as the tool of choice for lighting professionals.
Fibre tips with ball lenses for end-face processing
LASER COMPONENTS have provided custom ball lens profiles on the end faces of silica fibres. The plasma-based CMS process with ring-of-fire technology supports fibre diameters of 200, 365, 400, 550 and 600μm, including other diameters within the limits of the equipment. For fibres used in medical applications, end-face processing can be carried out in a clean room in accordance with ISO 13485. The entire process is also comp...
