In Hall 4.0, Stand F41 at the 2014 Light+Building Fair, Molex will demonstrate and showcase the Lite-Trap low-profile connector, Transcend VLM and a range of LED holders for LED lighting applications. Also on show will be the Passive Safety Pole connector, which dramatically speeds up whilst reduces the cost of installation, maintenance, repair and temporary removal of roadside equipment and furniture.

As the switch from incandescent to LED lighting rapidly continues around the world, there has been a corresponding move to make lighting modules thinner and more powerful. Visitors to the Molex stand 4.0 F41 will see the new Lite-Trap connectors, which provide a space-saving design and the ability to remove the wire, if needed. With a profile height of just 4.20mm, this push-button style connector offers the lowest profile and wire insertion force available on the market today compared with similar wire-removable types.

The majority of luminaire manufacturers build their fixtures with permanently embedded LEDs, making it difficult for consumers to change or upgrade them without removing the entire fixture. An ‘Open Source’ LED lighting solution; the Transcend VLM allows lighting manufacturers and designers to build a singular, low-voltage fixture that can be upgraded or adjusted. The module offers a variable level of light output, correlated colour temperature (CCT) and beam-spread to create state-of-the-art lighting ambience.

Inspired by Zhaga standards (round version only), Molex’s LED Array Holders promotes standardisation with existing LED eco-system, allowing luminaire manufacturers to upgrade without re-designing their products. Molex’s wide range of LED Array Holders help simplify the LED installation process and reduce installation time with compression contacts that eliminate hand soldering.

Molex will also focus on its cost-efficient interconnect solutions that dramatically speed up installation, maintenance, repair and temporary removal of roadside equipment and furniture, such as street lighting, traffic signals and road signage. Already tried and tested within parts of Europe, Molex’s Safety Pole Connector includes safety devices and systems that operate without need for human input or action.  The Safety Pole Connector helps applicable systems meet new EU legislation – which requires that in the event of an accident (e.g. a vehicle hitting roadside equipment) the system must disconnect the electrical supply within 0.4 seconds of impact.
