Power module regulator suited for driving LEDs
A new product has been announced by Analog Devices, with the Power by Linear LTM8005 boost DC/DC µModule (power module) regulator designed for driving LEDs. The LTM8005 includes a DC/DC controller, power switch, Schottky diode and current sense resistor in a 9.0x11.25x2.22mm BGA package.

A new product has been announced by Analog Devices, with the Power by Linear LT3762, a 60V output, high efficiency, synchronous, boost LED driver controller with a programmable internal LED PWM signal generator and spread spectrum frequency modulation that yield low EMI noise.

Integrated optical module reduces smoke detector false alarms
Analog Devices has introduced the ADPD188BI, an integrated optical module featuring two LEDs, photodiode, and analog front-end (AFE) integrated together in a single package. The high performing AFE offers high ambient light rejection and reduces power consumption to support longer battery life. The two LEDs help reduce false alarms often caused by steam and dust. False alarms are a leading factor in detectors being removed or disabled by consumers.

The acquisition of a solid-state laser beam steering technology from Vescent Photonics has been announced by Analog Devices (ADI). Vescent’s non-mechanical beam steering technology enables more robust integrated LIDAR systems that overcome many of the major drawbacks associated with today’s bulky mechanical offerings such as reliability, size, and cost.

Optical sensor improves gesture recognition reliability
Measuring a subject’s position, proximity and gestures from a single sensor, an optical sensor for gesture recognition has been announced by ADI. This improves sensing accuracy and reliability over existing solutions which often require multiple sensors and can be inaccurate, as the sensors 'see' objects differently from varying angles, making the signals difficult to combine.

Isolated Error Amplifiers From Analog Devices Outperform Optocouplers And Shunt Regulators
Analog Devices, Inc. have today announced the release of new isolated error amplifiers that provide power supply designers with a higher performing, single-chip alternative to isolation techniques based on optocouplers and shunt regulators. Designed for linear feedback power supplies using primary side controllers, the ADuM3190 and ADuM4190 isolated error amplifiers have a 400-kHz bandwidth, with 0.5% typical initial accuracy at 25°C and 1% total accuracy over the extended temperature range.

Analog Devices Expands Industry Leading Flash LED Driver Portfolio

Analog Devices, Inc today introduced two flash LED driver. The ADP1660 is a dual 750-mA (1500-mA total) flash LED driver available in a 2.0-mm x 1.6-mm 12-ball WLCSP package. The ADP1649 is a single 1000-mA LED driver available in a 2.0-mm x 1.5-mm 12-ball WLCSP package. Both parts exhibit best in class efficiency to extend battery life in smartphones and tablets and to limit the load on the battery during flash and torch events.

Analog Devices, Inc. has won the Solid-State Lighting Application Award at the 2011 Elektra Awards. The award-winning innovation was ADI’s ADP8866 programmable LED driver, which claimed the top spot over competition including entries from Intersil, Marl International and NXP Semiconductors. ADI was also shortlisted for the Embedded System Product and Engineers of the Future awards.

Analog Devices’ Programmable LED Driver Enables Independent Control of Nine LED Sinks
Analog Devices released for general availability today the ADP8866 LED charge pump backlight driver, which features independent control of nine LED current sinks, programmable LED blinking sequences and low operating current drain. Independent LED control allows designers to program different currents for each channel and enable them at different times. This feature allows the convenient control of backlighting LEDs and status indicator LEDs with one part. Programmable fade on/off and blinking sequences allow complex LED effects to be generated automatically, saving processor bandwidth and power. A built-in charge pump automatically adjusts its gain to efficiently power the LEDs under all conditions.

Analog Devices Adds New Highly Integrated Demodulator for Broadband Communication Designs to its RF/Microwave Product Portfolio

Analog Devices, Inc today introduced a new highly integrated demodulator for broadband applications, such as cellular base stations, satellite communications, point-to-point (PtP) radios and defence systems. ADI’s new ADRF6850 demodulator expands ADI’s RF/microwave product portfolio and offers the highest level of integration and functionality by combining five devices and three RF functions into one small-footprint, surface-mount chip.
