New Remote Integrates Up to Six OBIS Lasers
Coherent, Inc has expanded the company’s OBIS family of plug-and-play smart laser modules and accessories by introducing the OBIS 6-Laser Remote that integrates the power supply and control of up to six separate lasers in a standalone (i.e., CDRH compliant) format. This new accessory is the same compact size (105 x 68 x 36 mm) as the existing OBIS single laser remote. The OBIS 6-Laser Remote not only integrates operation of multiple lasers, it also reduces the cost of ownership and the footprint of the overall system, since it allows all the OBIS lasers to utilize a single 12V power supply. It incorporates a CDRH-requisite on/off master key switch as well as individual color-coded flip switches to power on/off up to six different OBIS lasers. Moreover, this new remote is offered as a package with a 12V power supply module, together with color-coded labels and six color-coded cables to clearly identify different wavelength lasers.

The new BraggStar M from Coherent, Inc delivers high pulse energy and superior spatial coherence for fiber Bragg grating (FBG) writing. High pulse energy is a critical advantage in some FBG writing applications, and high spatial coherence is always beneficial since it enables creation of FBGs with higher contrast and/or longer length. And because it can be operated at repetition rates of up to 100 Hz, the BraggStar M supports high throughput production of FBGs.

The new Vitara-S from Coherent Inc is a hands-free, integrated ultrafast oscillator primarily designed to seed Titanium:Sapphire (Ti:S) amplifiers. The new member of the Vitara family uses the same state-of-the-art technology as other Vitara products and delivers the same superior beam quality and power stability operating with a fixed bandwidth of > 70 nm centered at 800 nm. The compact laser head incorporates one of Coherent’s unique Optically Pumped Semiconductor Lasers (OPSL) as pump laser.

Coherent Launches Higher Power UV Ultrafast Laser for Industrial Applications

Coherent, Inc has expanded their family of industrial ultrafast lasers with the Talisker 500, which delivers over 10 Watts of ultraviolet output at 355 nm, 15 Watts of green output at 532 nm or 25 Watts of infrared output at 1064 nm. This next generation Talisker laser also increases repetition rate to 500 kHz enabling even higher throughput rates than earlier models. The combination of short (10 ps) pulse duration and flexible wavelength options makes the Talisker 500 ideal for precision micromachining applications in microelectronics and other industries where any peripheral laser damage – the heat affected zone (HAZ) – must be completely avoided, but throughput is key. Moreover, the rugged, compact (1020 mm x 390 mm x170 mm) laser head, power supply and control interfaces mirror those of the current Talisker Ultra revision, simplifying integration and/or upgrade to this new performance level.

Coherent Inc has expanded its OBIS family of plug-and-play smart laser modules with a new fiber-pigtailed (FP) option at several wavelengths (e.g. 405 nm, 488 nm, 640 nm). Coherent Introduces Highest Pulse Energy Ultrafast Amplifier System
Coherent, Inc has expanded the company’s family of Legend ultrafast amplifiers with the launch of the Legend Duo HE+ which delivers over 12 mJ/pulse at 1 kHz repetition rate – by far the highest energy per pulse of any thermoelectrically cooled commercial ultrafast amplifier at this repetition rate. Avoiding the use of cryogenic cooling simplifies operation and maintenance, resulting in lower cost of ownership and higher uptime. In addition, the Legend Duo HE+ is intrinsically more stable than other commercial amplifiers because it uses components and subsystems specifically designed to support Carrier to Envelope Phase (CEP) stabilized operation, the ultrafast technology most sensitive to noise and stability.

Two new Verdi G lasers from Coherent Inc are the first of this product family to offer single longitudinal mode (SLM) output. Specifically, the new Verdi G SLM-Series deliver a linewidth of < 5 MHz, which corresponds to a coherence length of tens of meters. They are offered with a choice of 2 and 5 Watts of output power at 532 nm, with SLM output expected at other wavelengths soon.

Coherent Adds New Wavelengths to OBIS Plug-and-Play Product Line

Coherent Inc has added two new wavelengths - 514 nm and 552 nm - to their OBIS family of plug-and-play smart laser modules. The OBIS 514 LS and the OBIS 552 LS are now available with output powers of 20 milliwatts, and offer an optimum combination of superior beam quality (diffraction limited TEM00 beam, divergence < 1.2 mrad, pointing stability < 30µrad/ ± 30C), power stability (< 2% over 8 hours ± 30C) and low noise (rms ≤ 0.25% at 20 Hz to 20 MHz).Together with its smart integrated controller, these lasers enable true plug-and-play operation which is a unique OBIS advantage for end users and OEMs alike. In particular the OBIS laser facilitates an easier and simpler build of a new application or instrument with the ability to easily expand wavelengths and power. Coherent Launches First Widely Tunable Short-Pulse Laser
The new Vitara from Coherent Inc. is the first widely tunable, ultrafast laser to deliver pulsewidths shorter than 12 fs, while also offering true hands-free and fully automated operation. This includes automated wavelength tuning over a wide (755 nm to 860 nm) range and push-button bandwidth adjustment from 30 nm to 125 nm. The output power of Vitara peaks at over 450 mW due to the fully integrated and compact Verdi G 5W pump laser based on Coherent’s unique optically pumped semiconductor.
