OmniVision Technologies has announced its high definition automotive camera module reference design, developed with collaboration from Leopard Imaging and featuring technology from Texas Instruments. The compact design includes OmniVision’s OX01B40 image sensor plus Image Signal Processor (ISP) System-in-Package (SiP), as well as TI’s DS90UB933-Q1 or DS90UB935-Q1 serialiser chip and TPS65000-Q1 Power Management Integrated Circuit (PMIC).

Boldly zoom where no mobile camera has zoomed before
In order to produce a new dual-camera zoom reference design for mobile devices, OmniVision Technologies have announced its collaboration with dual-camera technology company Corephotonics. Combining OmniVision’s OV12A10 and OV13880 image sensors with Corephotonics’ proprietary zoom and Bokeh algorithms, the reference design brings optical zoom capabilities commonly found in DSCs and DSLRs to smartphone camera applications.

Delivering improved low-light performance and faster readout architecture with a larger 1.3μm pixel compared to previous-gen devices, a 16MP PureCel Plus-S image sensor has been introduced by OmniVision Technologies. The OV16860 enables full resolution recording at 45fps and supports advanced features such as HDR, Phase Detection AutoFocus (PDAF) and slow motion video recording, making it suitable for high-end smartphones and action cameras.

OmniVision Technologies, Inc. today introduced the OV5645, a system-on-chip (SOC), 5-megapixel CameraChip sensor that targets the exploding cost-sensitive segment of the mobile handset market. As the successor to OmniVision's very popular OV5640, the new OV5645 has retained only a MIPI port, eliminating both the bandwidth-limited DVP interface and the costly embedded JPEG compressor. The newly updated sensor thus saves costs by reducing significant amounts of silicon, yet maintains full compatibility with most baseband processors today.
