Shareholder Change of OPTREX Group

OPTREX Corporation has been a company owned by investment funds primarily managed by Japan Industrial Partners, Inc. since February 2008, instead of Asahi Glass Co., Ltd. and Mitsubishi Electric Corporation. We are now pleased to inform that JIP and the investment funds have reached an agreement on a sale of all of their shareholdings to KYOCERA Corporation.

Optrex America introduces new super high bright TFT LCDs for industrial applications

Leading LCD manufacturer Optrex America has introduced three Super High Bright TFT LCDs, including a new 19” diagonal panel, with 1500 nits (cd/m2) brightness, low power consumption, wide operating temperature ranges, and white LED backlights with 100K hour lifetimes.

Optrex 12.1 inch LCD – high bright and power-saving

New high bright and power-saving 12.1“ TFT Display T-55592D121J-LW-A-ABN will be added to the Optrex linecard of long term available high quality industrial displays. An innovative backlight system enables a luminance of 1.500 cd/m² using only 12 W of power in total (Backlight 9.6 W).

Optrex has announced they plan to discontinue production of nine of their TFT displays.

The reasons cited by Optrex are the decreasing demand for displays with CCFL backlight and the strong trend towards models with LED backlight. In parallel to this the purchase of low volume may lead to significant price increases.
