Sony to preview category of machine vision module at Vision 2018
Sony Europe’s Image Sensing Solutions division has set to demonstrate the first in a new category of machine vision cameras at Vision 2018. At the Stuttgart-based trade fair, held in November, it will unveil a new polarised-light module based on its 5MP GS CMOS device. Details of the camera will be made available to journalists and select customers at the show, with a public announcement made in Q4.

CMOS sensor features on-pixel polariser for object detection
  Sony Semiconductor has released its new Preguis IMX250 sensor with a four-directional polarisation square pixel array, providing higher contrast for more detailed pictures in less time. The 5.07MP sensor, with a 2/3" optical format, has a 2448x2048 pixel array utilising a 3.45µm pixel size. The IMX250 reaches a frame rate of 144fps at 10 bits.

Stacked CMOS sensor suitable for automotive cameras
Sony has announced the release of the IMX324, a new 1/1.7-type stacked CMOS image sensor equipped with what it claims to be the industry's highest resolution 7.42 effective megapixel RCCC filter for forward-sensing cameras in advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). Sony will begin shipping samples in November 2017. This image sensor is capable of approximately three times the horizontal resolution of conventional products, which enables high-definition image capture of distant road signs approximately 160m ahead of the camera.

The first of a new series of SXGA modules - the Sony XCG-CG160, has been introduced by Sony Europe’s Imaging Sensing Solutions. The camera, which features a 1/3-type IMX273 sensor, is a low-disruption way to move from CCD to GSCMOS, proves a suitable replacement for cameras using the highly-regarded Sony ICX445 CCD sensor.

Sensors provide distortion-free images, on-the-go
Sony launches two powerful 1/3” sensors in the second generation of its CMOS Global Shutter image sensors - the IMX273 and the IMX287. With a resolution of 1.6 megapixels (IMX273) and high sensitivity in VGA quality (IMX287), they provide excellent distortion-free image quality in moving vision systems. Notably, with image rates of up to 437fps, they support fast applications in Machine Vision and diagnostics as well as traffic and monitoring.

Sony launches CMOS modules at Vision 2016
At Vision 2016, Sony Europe’s Image Sensing Solutions will unveil its latest series of GS CMOS cameras offering clear benefits to designers and end users in factory automation and non-manufacturing markets. The XCL-SG510 is a high-frame-rate Camera Link V2.0 module with global shutter that allows high-speed moving objects to be captured accurately, giving images of 5.1 megapixels at 154 frames per second.

Comprising four models (the XCG-CG240/C and XCG-CG510/C, available in either black and white or colour), the series utilises Sony’s Pregius global shutter pixel technology to ensure undistorted, high picture quality - even at very high speeds.
