Linear controller simplifies LED lighting design
Integrating a multiplier and tunable phase dimmer detection, a 450V linear controller has been introduced by Texas Instruments. The TPS92410 simplifies current regulation of high-voltage LED strings and also integrates analogue dimming inputs and drive circuit protection functions. This eases the design of downlights, fixtures and lamps powered from an offline AC or conventional DC power source.

Texas Instruments Incorporated today introduced three new DC/DC LED drivers that simplify white color tuning for high-color rendering and ultra-low dimming in professional-grade indoor and outdoor LED lighting applications. The TPS92660 two-string LED driver and TPS92640/1 synchronous buck controllers address the challenges of precise color and brightness control lighting that designers face in creating high quality light engines for commercial area lighting, including architectural and retail displays, as well as LED-based projection systems and automotive running lights.

Texas Instruments Incorporated today introduced the industry’s smallest off-line, phase-dimmable, constant-current lighting controller and an easy-to-use lighting driver that simplify the retrofit of a variety of LED bulbs, including E14, GU10, A19, PAR20/30/38, MR16 and AR111. The TPS92075 controller and TPS92560 driver reduce component count and solution size while improving compatibility with legacy lighting controls.

TI LED driver is the first with frequency synchronization, PWM dimming and thermal foldback

Texas Instruments Incorporated today introduced a 1.5-A constant current DC/DC buck converter with an industry-leading combination of frequency synchronization, pulse-width modulation (PWM) dimming and thermal foldback. The TPS92510 features a wide 3.5-V to 60-V input voltage operating range and integrated MOSFET. Together with TI's WEBENCH® LED Architect, the lighting developer can quickly design a power management circuit to drive a string of up to 17 high-brightness LEDs at up to 97-percent power efficiency in automotive, industrial and general illumination applications.

TI 2.5-A isolated gate driver doubles device lifetime, extends temperature range

Texas Instruments Incorporated today introduced an isolated gate driver for insulated-gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) and MOSFETs that is 40 percent faster than equivalent optical gate drivers. The input TTL logic and output power stage in the ISO5500 are separated by a capacitive, silicon dioxide (SiO2) isolation barrier that doubles the lifetime of the device compared to optocouplers and magnetic isolators. When used with isolated power supplies, the device provides for safer, more reliable electronics by blocking high voltages, isolating ground and preventing noise currents from entering the local ground and interfering with or damaging sensitive circuitry.
