The Optoelectronics group of Vishay Intertechnology has introduced a series of true green LEDs in a compact surface-mount 0603 ChipLED package. Measuring 1.6mm by 0.8mm with an ultra-thin 0.55mm profile, the VLMTG1400 series devices utilize the most recent ultrabright InGaN chip technology to achieve luminous intensity up to 2,800mcd.

IR receiver modules boost optoelectronics portfolio
For remote control in modern flat-panel TVs, three optical components — an IR receiver, red LED, and ambient light sensor — must either fit in the narrow frame or have an optical connection to the front from the back via a light pipe, which reduces the range for the IR receiver. The TVCastSMD package of the TSOP39xxxTR1 and TSOP59xxxTR1 series is designed to be mounted on a PCB with a side-view orientation. The board is then inserted into the frame, allowing for placement near the front of the frame for superior remote control performance. To simplify designs, the devices feature a photodetector, preamplifier circuit, and IR filter in a single four-pin epoxy package. Featuring a two-lens design for high sensitivity, the IR receivers offer typical irradiance down to 0.08mW/m² and 0.20mW/m², respectively. The components feature a supply voltage from 2.5V to 5.5V; very low supply current of 0.35mA typical for the TSOP39xxxTR1 series and 0.7mA for the TSOP59xxxTR1 series; transmission range up to 45 metres; and carrier frequencies from 36kHz to 56kHz. TSOP39xxxTR1 and TSOP59xxxTR1 series devices provide improved immunity against ambient light, are insensitive to supply voltage variations and ripple noise, and are offered in four automatic gain control (AGC) versions for short and long burst codes. All receivers are RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and Vishay Green.

Ultrabright LEDs deliver high luminous intensity
The Optoelectronics group of Vishay Intertechnology has introduced a new series of super red, red, amber, and yellow ultrabright LEDs in compact untinted surface-mount packages with dome lenses. Utilising the latest ultrabright AllnGaP on Si chip technology, the space-saving Vishay Semiconductors VLD.1535 series delivers extremely high brightness with luminous intensity to 14000 mcd and an emission angle of ± 22° without the need for an external lens.

Featuring separate red, green, and blue LED chips inside the compact 3.5 mm by 2.8 mm by 1.45 mm PLCC-6 surface-mount package, the Vishay Semiconductors VLMRGB611w. enables individual control of each chip, making it possible to realise every colour within the colour room defined by the gamut triangle area inside the CIE 1931 colour space through colour mixing.
