Automotive-grade backlight LED driver optimised for LCD panels
ROHM has announced the availability of the latest LED driver IC, the BD81A76EFV-M, optimised for LCD backlight in instrument cluster, centre information displays and car navigation. Unlike conventional drivers with four channels that support LCDs up to eight inches, this IC provides six channels of output (with 120mA per channel) that can support LCD panels of up to ten to 12” class.

Using its propriety monolithic GaN-on-Silicon (GaN-on-Si) technology, Plessey has achieved technology breakthroughs including the latest development of an ultra-fine, ultra-high resolution 2000x2000 pixel display on a 2.5 microns pitch.

Oslon Pure 1010 LEDs from Osram Opto Semiconductors are now being stocked by Mouser Electronics. Housed in an extraordinarily small 1mm × 1mm real chip scale package, the LEDs offer a top-emitting surface with a 120-degree viewing angle ideal for high-end retail lighting, customised chip-on-board (CoB) designs, and small luminaire designs with narrow spotlight requirements.

Improving harvest efficiency through LED lighting
Signify has partnered with AppHarvest to help the company increase efficiency and boost yields using significantly fewer resources in their 25 hectare greenhouse. The greenhouse will be fitted with a hybrid LED lighting system, utilising Signify’s Philips GreenPower LED toplighting compact and Agrolux high pressure sodium lighting.
