Machine vision cameras provide breakthrough in performance
The next-gen IVS-NCGi range of digital cameras from Industrial Vision Systems provides a breakthrough in flexibility, performance and ease of use for machine vision for its clients throughout the electronics industry. With heightened resolution options for more precision and faster frame rates, the cameras are designed for integration into modern production processes. Its compact form factor also easily fits into space constrained manufactur...
Mounted off-axis mirrors for intense laser studies
An order has been received from Strathclyde Intense Laser Interaction Studies (SILIS) Group, from University of Strathclyde (UK) to Optical Surfaces, for three ultra-high performance off-axis parabolic mirrors in special custom vacuum motorised mounts. The mounted mirrors to be developed by Optical Surfaces will be used on several beamlines of the facilities 350TW laser which is designed to support an extensive research portfolio in laser-plasma ...
World's first 100mW UVC LED
Introducing a performance of 100 mW, LG Innotek, industrial partner of LASER COMPONENTS, sets new standards for single-chip UVC LEDs. The manufacturer states that this development is two years ahead of current industry forecasts. So far, experts had assumed that similar output powers would not be achieved until 2020. Optimised chip design leads to considerable increase in UV output, while waste heat is discharged eff...
Extended range of DOEs for laser modules
LASER COMPONENTS presents an extended portfolio of pattern generators for FLEXPOINT laser modules. These new DOEs include several new patterns for green lasers with a wavelength of 520nm, such as a green cross with an opening angle of 50° or a rectangular pattern featuring 15 parallel lines. Several new matrix patterns have also been added, including 10x10 and 4x6 matrices for green and a 5x15 grid for red light.
LED inspection system with reel-to-reel option
Prüftechnik Schneider & Koch Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH is further expanding the LED inspection range for their LaserVision LED. The Bremen-based AOI specialist is presenting a reel-to-reel option to the professional public for the first time at the Light & Building trade fair, which will open its doors in Frankfurt am Main in March. The AOI and LED testing of rolled LED ribbons is thus possible.
Ultrasonic camera enables speedy hyperspectral imaging acquisition
The research and innovation hub in nanoelectronics and digital technologies, imec, has announced that it will demonstrate at this week’s SPIE Photonics West in San Francisco its second generation high-speed SNAPSCAN hyperspectral imaging camera. The new hyperspectral camera uses an ultrasonic speed piezo motor stage and innovative software to enable the acquisition of high resolution hyperspectral images less than 200ms.
Constant-current LED drivers suitable for edge lighting
As a result of growing demand for smaller LED lighting installations that also provide high efficiency and ultra-low EMI, Diodes Incorporated has extended its BCR420U and BCR421U families of linear LED drivers to include the BCR420UFD and BCR421UFD devices in the ultra-low profile DFN2020 package, making them suitable for 12 and 24V LED edge-lighting applications.
Minnesota celebrates the big game with LED light show
Philips Lighting will feature a series of dynamic light shows on the I-35W Saint Anthony Falls Bridge on 2nd-4th February 2018, in celebration of this Sunday's Super Bowl taking place at the US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis between the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles.
SPD module designed for outdoor LED lighting protection
The LSP10GIHP series modules provide coordinated protection for most commercially available LED drivers used today, reducing driver failure more effectively than ever before. Lower clamping voltage and surge let-through current ensure greater luminaire protection.
Meet the founder: Interview with a 'lighting guru'
When you’re designing a commercial or residential space, lighting might be the last thing on your mind. However, it can have a profound effect, on the people living or working there and, for businesses, on the potential customers coming through your door. And the lighting industry is just as ripe for innovation as any other sector. Breakthrough Magazine asked Bruce Weil, Director of Lighting Design Studio, about his light bulb moments.
