OMC new range of narrow angle, surface-mount LEDs in a variety of package styles and all popular LED wavelengths. The new SMD emitter series features integrated lenses moulded into the package which provides a 30 degree output beam. Applications for visible wavelengths include signalling and indication, in which the beam needs to be visible over greater distances, while the company’s infrared wavelength versions are used for sensing and data-communication over greater distances and with higher precision than using standard, wide-angle SMD components.

The introduction of the LUXEON 2835 HE has been announced by Lumileds, which has reportedly achieved efficacy of over 200 lm/W, while providing market defining colour consistency. Expanding on the successful LUXEON 2835 Line, the new LED is optimised to deliver high efficacy and two step MacAdam ellipse colour consistency in applications such as troffers and high bay/low bay fixtures.

Optoelectronic technology solution developer, Plessey, has placed an order for its next reactor from AIXTRON SE. The AIX G5+ C metal organic chemical vapour deposition (MOCVD) reactor will boost Plessey’s manufacturing capability of gallium nitride on silicon (GaN-on-Si) wafers targeting next-gen microLED applications.
