Cold forging thermal modules, suitable for LED lighting, has been released by GlacialTech. Manufactured using AL1050 aluminium, the Igloo FR210 and Igloo FR210HP provide 2.36 times the thermal conductivity to that of die casting. Both of the modules are suitable for 80W applications, however, the FR210HP has been optimised specifically for CoB and spotlight applications.

Designed with a focus on weight and volume reduction, the FR210 weighs 1250g and measures 210x37mm, while the FR210HP weighs 1230g and measures 210x37mm. Colour options for the modules' heatsinks include silver and black.

When compared to die-casting and aluminium extrusion, cold forging produces heat sinks which have better heat dissipation. Unlike with die-casting and aluminium extrusion, cold forging also does not require assembly and is environmentally friendly.
