Heatsinks' base spreads heat dissipation over larger area

A round LED heatsink series, designed to be used for CoB or MPCB LEDs, has been introduced by GlacialTech. The heatsinks, which are available from 5 to 21cm in diameter, feature a cold forging design. To meet the heating requirements of CoB LEDs, the heatsinks use a thicker, 7 or 10mm base. 

While the way in which CoB LEDs use LEDs mounted directly to the board provides a brighter light source, it also generates more heat. The heatsinks' thicker base allows the LEDs to operate more efficiently as heat dissipation is spread over a larger area. 

To provide more efficient cooling, the heatsinks for MPCB (Metal Core PCB) LEDs use a thinner 5mm base. While the metallic board used by MPCB LEDs already has a low thermal resistance to dissipate heat over a horizontal surface area, the heatsinks' thinner base quickly raise heat to the fins. 

To fit a wide range of LED lighting fixtures, GlacialTech offers the heatsinks in 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, and 21cm diameters. The cold forged design enables the heatsinks to perform better than traditional die cast heatsinks. The design also allows GlacialTech to offer the heatsinks in a one piece design, enabling easy assembly.
