Hamamatsu Photonics has developed a high-output ultraviolet LED light source that offers approximately 7 times the UV intensity of previous units for use in high-throughput UV printing applications. The LIGHTNINGCURE LC-L5G (part number: L12990-2303) provides the same level of output as metal halide lamps. It was made available to manufacturers of printing equipment on 1st April 2015.

The device provides 10,000mW/cm2 of UV irradiance at a peak wavelength of 385 ±5nm, over an irradiation area of 12x75mm (at least 80% irradiated at 2mm distance). Accepting a 48VDC input, the unit consumes a maximum of 600W, and is force-cooled by a fan motor. The light source operates over the temperature range of +5 to +40°C, and can be stored between -10 and +60°C.

From 8th to 10th April 2015, the LIGHTNINGCURE LC-L5G will be exhibited at FilmTech Japan, a specialised trade show within the Highly-functional Material World 2015 exhibition to be held at the Tokyo Big Sight convention centre.
