When Lepone’s Ristorante Italiano in Oswestry, Shropshire was seeking a suitable lighting product to replace halogen bulbs, Megaman provided a low-maintenance solution. Whilst contributing to crucial energy savings, the 3.5W Opal Candle LED from the company’s range of decorative fittings also helped to create a comforting ambiance within the restaurant.

Lepone’s Ristorante Italiano is an authentic Italian restaurant located in an 1885 Presbyterian church on Oswald Road, Oswestry. Retaining many of the original features from the church, the restaurant is a popular establishment and often hired for private events.

Due to their warm colour temperature of 2,800K and ability to provide optimum energy efficiency, 36 3.5W Opal Candle lamps from Megaman were specified for the three large chandeliers in the main area of the restaurant. Along with the warm colour temperature, the 3.5W Opal Candle lamps provide an even light distribution with 330° illumination, which all help to create a relaxing and comfortable social space that is ideal for restaurant and dining environments.

Lloyd Robson, Business Development Manager at Megaman worked closely with the client on the project. He commented: “This is a restaurant I often visit myself, so it was excellent to be able to provide some valuable input as a professional in the lighting sector. I was able to suggest a solution to the client that could not only deliver the required aesthetics, but also produce significant energy-saving results.

“With an A+ energy class rating, the 3.5W Opal Candle is able to produce 250 lumens, generating excellent energy-efficiency for the restaurant. As the previous 40W halogen bulbs were running for 12 hours every day, we have calculated that the restaurant is now saving a total of £18.92 per day. The client is very impressed with these results.”

The high-quality lamps were also well suited for such a busy, working restaurant which cannot afford any unnecessary downtime. The new lamps in the restaurant are a durable and low-maintenance option. Alongside an average-rated lifespan of 15,000 operating hours, the LED lamps also come with a two-year warranty as a part of Megaman’s Economy choice of products.

Robson continued: “The client was not only pleased by the simplicity and ease of the installation but has also expressed that the new lighting has been recognised by diners as a great asset to the restaurant, having had a positive impact on the space.”
