MAZeT's JENCOLOR sensors team up with Dust SmartMesh technology (from Linear) to provide consistent light output across multiple LED lighting systems, a difficult and previously costly task. When merging LED and electronics components of different manufacturers, achieving and maintaining homogenous light output values proves a challenging task, especially for dynamic control options.

Until now, very narrow and limited LED binnings, whilst costly, have so far provided the only solution to this problem. Limitations in availability and storage options make this solution hard to reproduce, and in practice, these restrictions drive up project costs. Achieving projected savings by switching the selected LEDs or manufacturer can be a hard task to perform, as process technology, phosphor, ageing process or even operational temperature shifts mean that LEDs vary and change in colour and brightness.

Subsequently, replacing defective fixtures in larger installations of LEDs may also lead to problems with quality and lack of consistency in light output, even when high quality LEDs are chosen.

An RGBW cube is used to show a spotlight demonstrator, using LEDs from different manufacturers to generate equal light output values. Providing unparalleled flexibility even when using dynamic colour cycling, daylight control or CCT dimming, MAZeT's JENCOLOR sensors actively observe light output and dynamically control drivers to allow the system to monitor lifetime, light output and colour conformity. Connected via Linear's' Dust SmartMesh technology, the different LEDs are sychronised homogenously in terms of brightness, CCT and colour values.

Sustainability of process is realised as the sensors, based on inorganic material, remain stable over time and temperature variations, allowing long-term applications such as stable, reliable cockpit lighting in aeroplanes.

The latest in intelligent light control and medical electronics innovations from MAZeT will be presented at electronica, 11th to 14th November in B1.419. Presenting applications related to intelligent light control, sensor electronic designs and customised medical electronics, the MAZeT booth will feature demonstrations of their JENCOLOR sensors.
