CoolLED, a leading supplier of high-performance LED products, has introduced its new pE-100 light source for use with fluorescence microscopes. With a choice from over 20 LED wavelengths, ranging from UV to IR, the pE-100 offers LED excitation at a single wavelength to match the exact requirements of all light-microscope users. It was developed to meet the demand for an economical LED source that does not have the inherent problems associated with the use, storage and disposal of mercury-based light sources.
The pE-100 is a self-contained unit with a power supply and control pod for 0-100% intensity control. The user simply selects the desired LED excitation wavelength and microscope fitting for the microscope. An optional cable for remote control is also available.

Yasutomo Kubota of Nihon Molecular Devices, CoolLED’s Japanese distributor, commented: “We are excited by this new development and see a great future for this product. The pE-100 is an excellent stand-alone LED light source that can also be triggered remotely for use in either reflected or transmitted modes.”
