A photoreceiver which consists of a photodiode followed by a high-end, variable gain transimpedance amplifier has been introduced by LASER COMPONENTS. The OE-300 features relatively large sized detectors, which make optical alignment easy and also ensure a very high coupling efficiency when using the Si models together with the optionally available fibre optic adapters PRA-FC/SMA.

The switchable gain from 10^2 to 10^8 V/A (decade increments) allows precise and reliable measurements within a very wide dynamic range from nanowatts up to 10mW optical power. Features such as switchable low-pass filters, offset adjustment, switchable AC/DC coupling and the capability of manual and opto-isolated remote control by a PC make the photoreceiver a particularly versatile device.

The OE-300 can be used for time resolved optical pulse and power measurements and laser intensity noise measurements (RIN). In addition, the photoreceiver is suitable as an optical front-end for oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, ADC and RF lock-in amplifiers.
