Skyscrapers become works of art with smart city lighting
Philips Lighting has completed a large-scale project that uses connected LED architectural lighting to illuminate the facades of 37 buildings, along a 9.2km stretch of road in the city center of Ningbo, China. The project, one of the largest of its kind, is aimed at boosting the city's cultural heritage and tourism, as well as stimulating commercial activities in the city center. It also illustrates the company's position as the lighting company ...
Base assembly lifts smart grid lighting performance
The LUMAWISE Endurance N Enhanced base from TE Connectivity (TE) is in stock at Mouser Electronics. It creates a platform for the rapid development and manufacturing of NEMA/ANSI-compliant street and outdoor lighting controls, smart grids, and commercial lighting solutions.
MaxLite announces 25th anniversary (1993-2018)
MaxLite will celebrate its 25th year of manufacturing and marketing energy-efficient lighting solutions by showcasing a full portfolio of LED luminaires, lamps and lighting controls at LIGHTFAIR International 2018 (Booth 3633), 8th to 10th May, in Chicago. One of the first companies in the industry to move into LED technology, MaxLite was founded in 1993 by President and CEO Yon Sung.
Hyperion 1750 LED lights up UK tomato greenhouse project
Plessey has announced that Sterling Suffolk will install Plessey’s new Hyperion 1750 LED top light in its first greenhouse, which measures 54,400m². The Hyperion 1750 is the latest LED grow light in the Hyperion product range and has a maximum light performance output of 1750micromole/s, equivalent to a 1000 W SON-T. All Hyperion grow lights come in a range of standard and tailor-made spectrums, with a host of features and benefit...
PLEDs ensure compatibility of existing ballasts and LED lights
Littelfuse have introduced a series of PLEDs with an ultra-low holding current (just 21mA) that makes the ballast drivers widely used in the output of fluorescent tubes compatible with modern replacement LED strings or tubes. This eliminates the need to scrap otherwise still-working ballasts when replacing fluorescent lighting tubes with LED strings or tubes.
SMD LEDs target T&M, control systems applications
A wide range of Kingbright 7 segment single digit SMD LED displays are available at JP Electronics from stock. These rugged displays are white diffused with a grey face and coloured LED segments. Typical applications include laboratory, industrial and handheld instrumentation and control systems and test and measurement equipment.
FLEXPOINT laser module for industrial facilities
Thanks to its M18 thread, the FLEXPOINT MV18 line laser module can be integrated into standardised systems. LASER COMPONENTS has introduced this product at the Vision Show 2018 in Boston, Massachusetts. It is designed to deliver homogeneous power distribution along the entire projected line – a requirement for its use in machine vision. The module is available in an extensive range of wavelengths between 405nm and 850nm.
LEDs offer high density in a small surface
LUXEON CoB Core Range (Gen 4) LEDs from Lumileds are available at Mouser Electronics. These LEDs offer high flux densities in a small light emitting surface (LES), enabling double the luminous flux of the third generation of LUXEON CoB Core Range devices. The high-density CoBs can achieve the highest center beam candlepower (CBCP) in narrow-beam (less than 20-degree) spotlight applications.
Major market changes to the thermal management of LEDs
Ahead of emerging changes within the LED market, Electrolube has addressed growing concerns affecting LED manufacturers regarding the thermal management of LEDs. The changes that will impact on the LED market are being driven by 2 major factors surrounding the issue of silicone. Firstly, silicone-based thermal management materials have been found to contribute to problems with long term reliability and contamination.
Low-cost avalanche photodiode comes in an M1 package
LASER COMPONENTS has announced that its cost-effective SAH series of avalanche photodiodes (APDs) is now available in an M1 package. This is the smallest available SMD housing (Surface-Mounted Device), at only 2 mm x 1.4 mm. The new APDs will be presented at SPIE DCS in Orlando, Florida (Booth 1029). Optimised for wavelengths of 850 nm and 905 nm, these components are mainly designed for range finding applications in which larger detectors c...
