Versatile coating stripper for optical fibres
LASER COMPONENTS has offered a robust and versatile coating stripper, the GPST-1000 by Lightel, for all those who work with optical fibres of different builds and diameters. Coatings made of polyimides (PI), acrylate, or silicone can be removed just as cleanly as two-layer coatings, at fibre diameters from 80μm to 1200μm. Stripping is carried out completely contact free by a plasma, preventing chemical and mechanical damage. There is not th...
IR LEDs suit security camera applications
The SFH 4718A infrared LED (IRED), part of the IR OSLON Black family from OSRAM Opto Semiconductors is now being shipped by Mouser Electronics. The small but powerful IRED is the first in the family to feature a narrow beam angle of ± 25 degrees, enabling illumination units for camera systems with a medium capture range without requiring secondary optics.
Extended portfolio of optical fibres
LASER COMPONENTS has extended its portfolio of Fibercore products to include single- mode fibres with wavelengths from 488nm to 1625nm. Many varieties are covered: for example, single-mode fibres with an ultra-low profile or large NA for improved bending resistance. Some types have a high germanium content and thus intrinsic photosensitivity for writing fibre Bragg gratings without further hydrogen passivation.
IP rated seal and productivity benefits for LED lighting
Techsil has provided a bespoke Form-in-Place Foam Gasketing service to TRT Lighting to produce an IP rated seal for the lid of an outdoor lighting luminaire. The new process replaced a manual system of gasket application saving time and allowing vital resources to be used elsewhere. UK based, TRT Lighting Ltd (Thorlux Road and Tunnel Lighting) designs, manufactures and supplies energy efficient, environmentally friendly lighting products for...
Portfolio of 25G lasers for deployment in 5G applications
MACOM Technology Solutions has announced a new portfolio of 25G distributed feedback (DFB) lasers designed for use in next-generation 5G LTE wireless fronthaul infrastructure. Building on MACOM’s legacy of industry leadership in 4G LTE connectivity solutions, the new laser portfolio is expected to help wireless operators deploy 25G optical links at commercial scale and cost structures on the path to 5G.
Increasing efficiency of heating for semiconductor production
At the SEMICON Taiwan exhibition in Taipei at the beginning of September, Heraeus Noblelight will present black.infrared, a global first for the semiconductor and photovoltaics industry. The innovative infrared system functions according to a completely new emitter principle.
Techniques reveal heightened detail of vertebrate life
A mingling of science and art, next-gen photographs of vertebrate skeletons are at once fascinating, eerie, intricate and exquisite. “People are inherently interested in how these skeletons look,” said W. Leo Smith, associate professor of ecology and evolutionary biology and associate curator at the University of Kansas Biodiversity Institute & Natural History Museum. “In any given scholarly paper, you’d be lucky ...
Controllable DALI High Bay luminaires provide energy savings
LEDVANCE smart High Bay DALI luminaires provide direct energy savings of up to 90% compared with conventional high bay luminaires. Unlike mercury vapour and metal halide lamps, they are dimmable and switch on and off instantly, allowing further energy savings to be realised through daylight and occupancy-dependent operation. The integral DALI-2 interface allows the LEDVANCE High Bay luminaires to be readily connected to popular presence and light...
Non-destructive testing of advanced materials
The FLIR A6750sc SLS thermal imaging camera range from FLIR Systems comes standard with Lock-In, Transient, and Pulse capabilities enabling you to undertake meticulous Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) or stress mapping, resolving temperature differences as low as 1mK. NDT is widely used to evaluate the properties of a material, component, or system without causing damage.
Differentiate your next camera design with high image quality
Thermal imaging cameras have new features like low light operation and immunity to visual limitations. These cameras demand compact designs, low power consumption and light weight with high performance.
