Battery fuel gauge ICs deliver low operating current
Designers of lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery powered mobile and portable devices products can improve the end user experience by extending run-time and delivering accurate battery state-of-charge (SOC) data with the MAX17262 single-cell and MAX17263 single-/multi-cell fuel-gauge ICs from Maxim Integrated Products.
Complete package for initial tests and test series
LASER COMPONENTS has announced a plug & play solution for quick and replicable tests and test series for several LEDs in the ultraviolet spectrum. The AMPYR Evaluation Kit LED30UV contains an LED carrier with a heat sink, an AMPYR LED30W LED driver with an integrated heat sink, a plug-in power supply unit, and a six-pole cable for connecting the driver and carrier unit.
LED emitter boasts spot diameter of 7mm
A compact, infrared LED emitter with the industry’s largest spot diameter of 7mm for super-reliable optical sensing and position encoder applications has been released by TT Electronics. With up to 10mW total radiated power at the maximum drive current of 100mA, and 2.25° angle of half intensity, the OP207CL couples optical flux extremely efficiently onto the receiving photo-sensor to ensure clearly detectable on/off transitions.
Optocoupler enables 30% saving on PCB real estate
The first AEC-Q101 qualified, phototransistor optocoupler introduced by Vishay is now available at TTI. This newly-launched device, the VOMA617A, combines a high current transfer ratio (CTR) of 50% to 600% with low 5mA forward current. Supplied in a compact SOP-4 package, the new device offers the major advantage of a 30% saving on PCB real-estate when compared to a DIP-4 package.
Fibre optic switch for LiDAR applications
LASER COMPONENTS has introduced the Agiltron CrystaLatch (CL) series of optical switches that are specifically designed for sensor and LiDAR applications. The CL 1x6 switch assigns the incoming signal to one of the six available output ports and simultaneously detects the reflected signal via a dedicated sensor port. It is designed for permanent, fail-safe live operation under strong vibrations, and works perfectly even at temperatures of -40°...
Erbium Ytterbium doped optical fibres for fibre lasers
LASER COMPONENTS has offered Erbium Ytterbium doped fibre with a core diameter range of 6um to 30um. Due to great demand for high power CW sources at 1.5um and output power of 20-30W range, our partner iXblue has worked extensively to improve both the core composition and the low index coating package in order to bring this technology up to customers’ expectations.
Growth course with location and new laser models
With its move to the industrial area Inning am Ammersee, VONJAN Technology not only has modern new premises at its disposal, but above all the product range of lasers has been significantly expanded. We understand that a laser system is far more than just the sum of its individual components. It is especially the right combination and the resulting interplay which leads to excellent system performance in the end.
Advancing undersea optical communications
Nearly five years ago, NASA and Lincoln Laboratory made history when the Lunar Laser Communication Demonstration (LLCD) used a pulsed laser beam to transmit data from a satellite orbiting the moon to Earth — more than 239,000 miles — at a record-breaking download speed of 622MB/s. Now, researchers at Lincoln Laboratory are aiming to once again break new ground by applying the laser beam technology used in LLCD to underwater commu...
Illuminating an imperial icon with LED lighting
Vietnam’s most important historical and cultural monument, know as the the ‘Imperial City’ of Huế has been illuminated with Philips Color Kinetics technology by Signify.
Precision motion is rising to the challenges of photonics
Just as 20th Century engineers relied on electric motors, 21st Century engineers are turning to lasers and fibre optics to create machines and technologies that will change the world and redefine life as we know it. Here, Gerard Bush of motion experts INMOCO explains how the precision optical systems required are pushing the boundaries of drives and controls.
