PMT module uses USB connection for control & power

Hamamatsu Photonics has extended its range of compact photomultiplier tube modules with the H11890 series of USB powered photon counting modules, providing excellent count linearity with correction performed by an internal processing unit. The H11890 series contain a metal package PMT along with a high-speed photon counting circuit and high-voltage power supply unit.

IR LEDs provide reference source for moisture detection

Hamamatsu Photonics has released an infrared LED, the L12771 series, aimed at moisture detection applications where specific wavelengths are required as the reference light source. The L12771 series has a peak emission wavelength of 1.3µm with a typical radiant output power of 2.8mW. The IR LEDs use InGaAs, and come in a compact TO-46 package.

CCD image sensor suits machine vision applications

Hamamatsu Photonics has introduced the S12379, a linear CCD image sensor designed for machine vision cameras, targeting applications including chip counters and sorting machines. The S12379 offers a linear array of 2048 active pixels in a compact package only 36mm long. Each pixel is square, a necessity for machine vision applications.

Deuterium light source & PDA added to photonics range

Hamamatsu Photonics has introduced two products to its range, the company's first high brightness deuterium (H2D2) light source (left) featuring a deuterium lamp that emits UV light at intensity 6 times higher than the company's conventional L2D2 range of lamps, and a back illuminated 16 channel PhotoDiode Array (PDA), designed for use in X-ray non-destructive testing applications.

Compact linear image sensors suit mass production

Two compact CMOS linear image sensors, designed for applications such as position detection, object measurement, rotary encoders and image reading, have been released by Hamamatsu Photonics. The S11106-10 and S11107-10 have been designed for mass production, and aim to offer a favourable performance-to-cost ratio.

Mini spectrometer module targets inline testing

The latest offering from Hamamatsu Photonics in its range of miniature spectrometers is the C11697MB; a high-sensitivity, trigger-compatible VIS-NIR mini-spectrometer module. The new module is ideal for inline testing applications and measurement of pulsed light emission due to the high sensitivity offered by the new S11639 CMOS linear image sensor housed inside.

CMOS sensors deliver improved performance v cost

Two new compact CMOS linear image sensors are designed in a small surface mount package and are ideal for mass production and numerous applications including barcode readers, displacement meters, refractometers, interferometers and miniature spectrometers. Hamamatsu Photonics says the S10226-10 and S10227-10 sensors offer much improved performance vs. cost.

Long exposure time enables ultra-low light detection

Claimed by the manufacturer to push the boundaries of ultra-low light detection, the ORCA II camera from Hamamatsu Photonics is suitable for applications including luminescence and low level fluorescence imaging, high resolution microscopy or semiconductor imaging, X-ray applications, neutron radiography and scintillator readout.

Linear CMOS Image Sensor features Direct UV Sensitivity

Hamamatsu Photonics are proud to introduce the S11639 CMOS linear image sensor with APS (Active Pixel Sensor) technology. APS technology allows the S11639 to achieve a combination of a very high sensitivity, at 1,300 V/(lx•s), and, a high speed video data rate of 10 MHz. This is accomplished by simultaneously integrating charge for all pixels.

NIR Mini-Spectrometer supplied with sample software

Hamamatsu introduces a new spectrometer to the already highly popular series of transmission grating (TG) based mini-spectrometers. All of these modules consist of a palm-top size polychromator integrated with optical elements, a photodiode array optimised for the required wavelength range, together with an image sensor driver circuit.

Thermoelectrical cooler enhances MPCC devices

Hamamatsu Photonics has expanded and enhanced its range of semiconductor detectors, featuring photon counting capability, with the introduction of the brand new S12576-050 and S12577-050 multi-pixel photon counter devices (MPPC). The new devices utilise a Geiger-mode avalanche photodiode structure for ultra-low-level light detection, and a two-stage thermoelectric cooler, operating down to -25oC.

38 mm head-on PMT offers 3x faster response

A new 38 mm head-on PMT, offering 3 times faster response than previous models, has been announced by Hamamatsu. Hamamatsu will exhibit the R12845 at the IEEE Nuclear Science Symposium/Medical Imaging 2013 Conference in Seoul, South Korea from the 27th October to the 2nd November (exhibit of the R12845 will be for 3 days from the 29th October).

Phonic crystal laser provides high beam quality at single wavelength

A next-generation laser light source that provides high output and high beam quality at a single wavelength, while simultaneously controlling beam spread has been announced by Hamamatsu. Developed by a group from Hamamatsu Photonics and Kyoto University’s Photonics and Electronics Science and Engineering Center, samples will be offered to instrument manufacturers by spring 2014.

Photocathode enables high near-infrared sensitivity for Micro PMT

A new multialkali photocathode has been developed by Hamamatsu, providing high near-infrared sensitivity for its next-generation Micro PMT. The Micro PMT is an ultra-compact photomultiplier device that is manufactured with semiconductor manufacturing technology and can be produced in high volumes.
